DEBATE – “ASSESSMENT OF THE HIGH LEVEL ACCESSION DIALOGUE – How was it so far, and how will it be?”

On September 18, the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia (FOSM) and the Macedonian Centre for European Training (MCET) organized a debate at which the findings of the monitoring of the High level accession dialogue (HLAD) were presented through an analysis of the fulfillment of the objectives and measures of the Operational roadmap. The general conclusion of the ten speakers from civil society organizations, who closely monitor the areas covered by the Operational roadmap, is that the measures and objectives contained in the roadmap are incomplete, not ambitious enough, and mainly on a technical level, do not offer actual solutions to key problems. It was also found that many of the problems in reality, which in turn are part of the five areas defined in the Operational roadmap (freedom of expression, rule of law, public administration, electoral law and market economy) are not at all included. NGOs agreed that there is a lack of essential inclusiveness of the process, i.e. only the civil society sector is involved in just two of the areas – freedom of expression and elections, and for the other three areas inclusion is just formal, i.e. on a level of formal meetings where they are informed about the achievements and progress in the implementation of the objectives and measures.

Promotion of the publication “My Guide: MK@EU” – EU Info Center, October 27th 2011, 11.00 am

The Macedonian Centre for European Training (MCET) and the NGO Info-Centre have the pleasure of inviting you to the promotion of the publication “My Guide: MK@EU”. The guide was published within the frames of the EU Funded Project “My Guide: MK@EU”. The promotion will take place on October 27th 2011 at the EU Info-Centre starting at 11.00 am.

MCET and the NGO Info-Centre are two organisations that support the Accession of Republic of Macedonia to the European Union. MCET supports the accession process by delivering professional training, providing consultancy services, regional cooperation, and public policy writing and lobbying for change. NGO Info-Centre monitors the quality of information on the Accession Process that the citizens receive, and the work of different stakeholders in this process. For both, MCET and the NGO Info-Centre, the European Union and the Accession Process is not “foreign policy”, but “internal policy” as it covers all aspects of society, i.e. it offers sustainable frame for the reforms that will provide for a modern democratic system and policy-making in all spheres of social living.

The publication “My Guide: MK@EU” has the goal to facilitate the monitoring of the Accession Process to the EU, i.e. the reforms of the Government. The main objective of this tool is to raise the level of debate on European Issues and therefore it compiles all information in a manner that allows for easier monitoring and analysis of the strategic documents that pave the way to the EU.
